The Hottest Summer Photo Album To Try Yourself

Mini Album Cover

The cover of this mini album was probably one of the most fun parts to decorate. When I think of Summer I think about all the delicious berries and fruits that are in season – specifically strawberries. I wanted the cover to be bright, and uplifting just like the season.

I highly recommend the Simple Stories Snap Studio Flipbook album – as seen here. This album is not only only perfect for mini albums, but customizable as well. You can decorate the cover however you would like, and reorganize the pocket pages on the inside.

Using this strawberry patch die-cut set it was so easy to create these adorable mini strawberries for the cover. I added more berry stickers that came with the collection, along with some floral designs. Some of my favorite pieces on this cover are the mini flower truck, and circle letters that spell out “Summer”.

However you spend your Summer days be sure to get out and smell the flowers. Zinnias are some of my favorites. To create this gorgeous layout with the supplies from the collection, use the brightly colored floral pattern as the background and cut out two strips using the bubblegum pink and rustic green polka dot papers. Round each end to create a softer look for some dimension. Finally, add some stickers.

If you are making your album before the season is over, it may be a smart idea to place white cardstock in place of where you want your photos to go. This allows you to plan ahead and decorate the page how you want. Then in the future, when you take your pictures you will know just where they will go.

This shade of blue is one of my favorite colors for the season! This delicate floral background is paired with the stripes to create a small border around the page. Totally eye-catching and breaks up busy patterns! A quick tip if you wish to create a more uniform look while scrapbooking; be sure to use the same color scheme throughout. This blue bike is the perfect addition, along with the “happy for you” tag to bring in an extra pop of color.

Summer photo album ideas

If Summertime had designated colors associated with it, these would definitely be the colors of Summer. The vibrant yellows, reds, and blues bring so much happiness to one page. I love this colorful striped background which reminds me of the umbrellas/ awnings you find at the beach and board walk. They look so well against the colorful background and add the perfect touch of details.

This page is all about fun. Using some twine I had lying around in the craft room, I incorporated it with the flag stickers to create a cute banner in the upper left corner. Additionally, the sunshine and sunglass stickers were just too cute not to use.

3×4 Cards

Summer mini albums

This collection comes with all sorts of cute 3×4 and 4×6 inch journaling cards. These are the perfect way to easily add some fun designs in the pocket pages. Again, the flower cart makes an appearance along with the colorful flower pattern.

Oftentimes, I use the back of journaling cards for photo placements. This works great because you can use the designs on the front side and still have a place to store your memories on the back. It is a win-win.

Here you can see additional designs for the 4×3 inch journal cards. My favorite being the pink strawberry seeds card. I just love how this collection incorporates both the flower and fruit elements together. These fit perfectly within the pocket pages, and there is even room for journaling.

Summer Fruits

What is your favorite Summertime fruit? Mine may very well be strawberries. Although, there are so many delicious seasonal berries that it is difficult to choose. The strawberry patterns in this collection are too adorable not to use on a full page.

Again, I kept the same color scheme throughout with the reds and pinks. Taking the pink plaid pattern, I put that as the background. Next, I cut the strawberry journaling card which reads “You are so berry sweet”, and added that behind the photo placement. Finally, the tiny strawberry basket at the top right brings all the patterns together.

Lemons and lemonade are a seasonal staple. This patterned scrapbook paper is as sweet as actual lemons taste. I love the yellow and blue together.

To create something different, I ended up making a pocket for this page that can hold anything from photos to pamphlets. To construct the pocket was super easy. Take the lemon pattern and cut it to your desirable size. Next, take the same blue floral paper seen earlier and cut it down to the same width and only a few inches tall. Only adhere the two sides and bottom to the lemon paper, leaving the top open. In the end, I included a lemon sticker and yellow sunshine title to bring more yellow to the bottom half.

I love adding pockets to my mini albums because they make a great place to store extra memorabilia. Next time you go to the state fair, or movies, keep the tickets to store in your summer mini album as they are awesome keepsakes.

4×6 Journaling Cards

In my Summer photo album I designated a specific area just for the 4×6 journaling cards. Most of the pictures that I print are six by four inches so these are perfect to use in collaboration. You can see a few of the adorable patterns above including the green polka dots. Anytime I am able, I include cute stickers to decorate the page. The mason jar with the cut flowers is the perfect addition.

In any photo album or scrapbook layout you create it is essential to include enough space to write descriptions. Physical photographs are great, however, you can easily forget the little details of the day unless you take time and write it down. I enjoy using the journal cards to write a little snippet of my favorite memories and funny moments.

Oftentimes, it is a good idea to include the journaling off to the side of a photograph or on the backside. That way when you turn the page you can read all about your adventures. Wherever you choose to include it, make sure it accurately shares your story!

Scrapbook Embellishments and Tags

Summer is full of exciting adventures, which means there are countless ways you can use your album. If you are traveling, hanging by the pool, or camping, these are all memories you will want to store and remember.

I created this layout as a filler page. Filler pages such as this one are a smart way to use up extra scraps. Additionally, it splits up your photos and journaling by adding more design pieces. I adore the quote “Friends are the flowers in the garden of life.” Perfectly represents the special people who make summertime a blast.

A fun embellishment to add in scrapbooks are tags! Tags are not only cute, but also multipurpose. You can write, decorate, or use them as a photo placement on the backside. With these tags I punched out a hole and tied some twine around the top.

Here, I added the tags in a four by six pocket page. They fit perfectly in the sleeve and are easy to pull out if you want to look at or read them.

I cannot wait to start adding in my own special photos and memorabilia to this mini-album. There are so many fun ways to customize this collection to your liking. Scrapbooking allows you to relive special moments for years to come, and creating your own album will be so rewarding for you and your family.
