#1 Key Lime Pie

Whether you have a sweet tooth or not, key lime pie is a must-try staple of the Florida Keys. If you take a look at any map while down here you will quickly see many bakeries around town. They all have their own version of this refreshing, fruity dessert. I myself am not a huge pie person (I much prefer chocolate chip cookies) but on the hottest of days key lime pie hits just the spot.

After the trip I ended up making this vacation mini album and dedicated an entire page just for this pie. It is no joke when I say there is a key lime pie bakery on every corner of Duval Street. I snapped this photo of the adorable signage in front of my favorite pie bakery. The pie itself was light and refreshing, making it perfect to eat in the scorching sun. The crust was flaky and the filling was truly delicious.

To create this page I used this tropical fruit paper from Joann Fabrics. While this pattern may not be in stock any longer, there are plenty of similar collections such as this one here. Additionally, I love the look of clear acetate to help bring in some extra details. You can use the acetate to add more photos and when you flip the pages you can still see the previous page underneath. It also looks good to add some doodles with a white paint pen like I did here. This is such a fun and tropical scrapbook layout to celebrate one of Key West’s most popular treats!

#2 Hemmingway House Scrapbook

Supply List

When you visit Key West, Florida you will likely hear the stories of one of their most notable historical residents – Ernest Hemmingway. During our trip we made sure to check out the Hemmingway home where the famous author wrote some of his most reputable novels, including his book “To Have And Have Not”.

Most fascinating was getting to meet all of the six-toed cats on the property. I was able to get up-close pictures and pet a few of the kitties. Some of the other interesting parts of the property include Hemmingway’s writing studio, the underground pool with the concrete penny, and the wrap around porch.

This scrapbook layout I created with the Simple Stories collection kit named “Beachy.” I have a whole blog post on all the pages I created with this scrapbooking kit. All the pieces were pre-cut and the only thing I had to do was the assembly. I just love the blues and greens of the collection along with the newspaper strips. It gives the page a vintage theme that is perfect to display all the history of this place. I feel as though this is a perfect representation of Hemmingway himself.

#3 Banana Café Brunch With a View

Supply List

Vacation is the perfect opportunity to try new foods. We stopped at the Banana Café right on Duval Street which is a French cuisine. I opted for the veggie crepe along with a fresh, flaky croissant. The restaurant has a perfect view of Duval street; great for enjoying the sunshine and watching the cars drive by. On this particular day we also took a trip on the well-known conch train. The train is another must-see when visiting Key West as it takes you around all the must-see around in town. Our driver was a local himself and knew all the best places and stories to share.

This page was crafted using the Happy Blooms collection by Pinkfresh Studio. I cut the double sided paper called “happy place” into one-inch strips and pasted them down onto the background alternating the front and back pattern. Additionally, I included these lemon and lime fruit pieces to tie in with the color scheme. This scrapbooking page is colorful and bright, perfect for summertime.

#4 Butterfly Gardens

Supply List

One of the most visited attractions in Key West is the butterfly conservation and gardens. This place is an entire greenhouse where you can see butterflies, birds, and even flamingos. It is one of the most peaceful attractions that allows you to sit and watch the nature around you.

I love getting to scrapbook with butterfly designs because of all the bright colors and patterns you can use. For this page I took some regular water color paper and painted the background with pink and orange. For a pop of detail I also included in some strokes from a gold metallic marker. One of my favorite things about this layout is how many photos I was able to fit. Since the pictures themselves are so beautiful I figured I did not need a ton of extra embellishments. The main focus point is all of the photographs along with the butterfly cutouts; each one a different design!

Lately, I have been loving my sizzix die-cutting machine which I have been using to cut out titles. I cut out the Key West title with a playful font. Lastly, I included this bright green scallop washi tape on the right edge of the paper. Washi tape is an excellent way to add in some extra color.

#5 The Southernmost Point

The Southernmost Point Buoy is the most recognizable landmarks for this vacation spot. At any time of day you will see huge line of people were waiting their turn for a chance to get a picture in front of this attraction. Marking the furthest point south you can step foot on in the United States, this is one of the neatest places you can visit in Key West.

Here is another page in my vacation mini album. This is an interactive layout, where you are able to pull the paper flap and more photos pop out. I had to capture pictures of all the free-roaming chickens, and the historic places that I saw. One of the historic places that is pictured here is Fort Zachary Taylor state park. These are just a few of the memorable tourist attractions to visit.

A great tip when creating your own vacation scrapbook is to include any sort of souvenir or keepsake that will fit within the page. Here, I purchased a chicken sticker from a local gift shop that is a great addition to the layout. Think stickers, post cards, or even receipts from your favorite places.

#6 Mallory Square

Supply List

Mallory Square is where all of the action takes places. The square hosts the nightly sunset celebration where you can view the stunning sunset over the water. If you don’t mind large crowds this is a fun place to sit back and enjoy the beautiful views that overlook the ocean.

I created this layout with the Simple Stories “beachy” collection kit. With vibrant pinks and palm trees, this collection does an excellent job at capturing the beauty of Mallory Square and transferring it to this scrapbook page. Personally, I love the boardwalk pattern underneath along with all the tropical palm leaves.

#7 Dry Tortugas

Dry Tortugas Scrapbook Layout

Supply List

If you are traveling all the way down to Key West, Florida you cannot miss going to the Dry Tortugas National Park. One of the least visited national parks in the United states, this place is a sight to see. Some of the bluest waters I have ever seen with some great snorkeling. In order to get here it takes a two hour boat trip, or you can opt to fly in a sea plane.

You can see for yourself all the gorgeous views. We spent the day touring Fort Jefferson and exploring the beaches. This is another layout made with the Simple Stories “beachy” kit collection. The background pattern of scattered boats is perfect for this excursion. I love the vintage ship embellishments that go along with this page. Thankfully, this page layout holds four pictures which is plenty of space to store all the fun memories.

Key West, Florida is a bucket list place to visit. If you have had the pleasure of visiting you know just how remarkable this place is. Moreover, I am thankful for my family vacations to this special place and having these scrapbook layouts to look back on for years to come.
