1. On A Plane – Travel Memories Scrapbook

Supplies:

Between planes, trains, and cars there are so many ways to get around the world. And sometimes, the journey is just as fun as the destination. While visiting other parts of the world I am always in awe at the scenery. The views outside of a plane window are breathtaking and it is always so interesting to see the world from new heights – literally!

Snap a photo of the view from outside of your window next time you’re traveling. It’s a great idea to include your boarding pass or map to the page. Whether it’s a city skyline or a serene countryside landscape, these photographs serve as a window into your adventures, allowing you to relive those cherished memories for years to come. So, don’t forget to document the beauty you encounter on your travels and let your photos transport you back to those incredible moments.

2. Beach Themed Photo Albums

Supplies:

One of my favorite travel places is the beach! The clear blue waters, white sandy beaches, and seashells are just too beautiful that the photos do not do it justice. This layout is one I created to capture our kayaking excursion into the picturesque mangroves. When you travel it is not just about where you go, but what you do. Next time you find yourself in a new place make sure to go out and explore the local areas that may not be well-known to tourists.

A travel scrapbook DIY hack is to incorporate elements from your pictures into the design. For instance, for beach photos, using various shades of blue can help to complement the background. In this example, animal and nature stickers were used together with abstract elements to create a nautical look.

3. Adding Scenery – Nashville Scrapbook Layouts

During a trip to Nashville, Tennessee, I had the opportunity to explore various landmarks and enjoy the beautiful scenery. One particular aspect that fascinated me was the collection of mural paintings scattered throughout the city. As an avid traveler and scrapbook enthusiast, my objective was to incorporate these picturesque artworks into my travel scrapbooking layouts.

This Jason Woodside mural has so many fun patterns and colors. It was also the perfect background for my layout and provided an excellent way to use up old scraps of paper. I gathered all different patterned scrapbook paper and cut them into strips. Then, I glued each piece horizontally overlapping slightly to mimic the actual mural painting.

When creating your own layouts, think of different landmarks you can possibly add into the background. For example, buildings, skylines, statues, mountains, lakes and oceans.

4. Las Vegas Scrapbook Ephemera

What happens in Vegas… stays in your scrapbook! When I think of Las Vegas the first thing that comes to mind is the big flashing neon welcome sign. Remarkable landmarks such as this can often be added onto your page as embellishments. Here, I intricately cut out the Las Vegas welcome sign using my Cricut cutting machine. The inclusion of this significant piece provides a visually striking reminder of the allure and excitement that Las Vegas exudes.

5. Paperchase Scrapbook With Mini Polaroids

Supplies:

My favorite way to gather photographs for my photo albums are by the Instax Mini Polaroid Printer. These mini polaroid’s give my layouts such a unique, vintage look. Also, they are so easy and quick to print from – it only takes seconds!

If you are looking for travel journal ideas try arranging different polaroid’s together and adding some bright ephemera pieces. A collage is a great way to share multiple memories from a trip. On this page, I kept it simple by arranging four polaroid pictures together while adding some fun stickers and paper clips. No caption is needed when the pictures can show off themselves.

6. Travel Scrapbook Accessories And Maps

Souvenirs and guide maps can serve not only as special mementos but are also great for decorating your album with. Maps are a great addition to any background or placing right beside your photos. You can pinpoint exactly on the map where you stayed and the exact route you took to get there. Additionally, you will be able to look back at the maps you saved and see just how much the scenic routes have changed over time. Pamphlets from interesting stores or activities you partook in may also be smart too include in your layouts as well.

While some souvenirs you pick up may be too large to keep in a scrapbook album, items such as tickets, wrappers, receipts, and wristbands will lay perfectly flat against any layout. So do not throw away just any trash yet, because it may be the perfect piece in helping to share your travel stories. I created this boho desert mini album inspired by the land out west. There is no time like the Summertime! This layout was created of a recent trip to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. Documenting family vacations are super important to me because it is a time I will always look back on. While in Hilton Head, we visited the marina that is home to the lighthouse. This was a simple 12×12 layout I created using watercolor paint and a few stickers. Ripping the paper slightly, I added this boardwalk patterned paper underneath. I used various nautical elements to keep the theme looking beachy and all about Summer.

8. Keep It Colorful – Cruise Scrapbook Layouts

Supplies:

When I think of St. Maarten I think of tropical oceans and vibrant colors. Those two things are exactly what inspired me while creating this fun layout-page. A fun way to add bright colors while not making it look too busy are to use die-cuts. Paper die-cuts are metal shapes you can use to cut paper designs out with. These designs can then be backed with bright, patterned paper.

The bright yellows and electrifying blues on the fish accurately depict all the colors you see on the island. This adds a fun little design element that is completely customizable for you. There are so many different cut files to choose from that the possibilities are endless.

Another fantastic thing about visiting new places is seeing all the beautiful architecture. Each country has their own unique architecture style and historic landmarks. If you enjoy history, you may want to create a travel scrapbook album about all the places you saw and the history behind them. You can include past and presents photos.

It’s fascinating to observe how architecture reflects the cultural and historical heritage of a place. Additionally, including architectural sketches and drawings can add a visual appeal to your album, showcasing the stunning structures from different angles. The combination of words, photographs, and sketches will bring your travel experiences to life, enabling you to relive those captivating moments whenever you flip through the pages of your scrapbook.

Supplies:

Part of the fun on any vacation is the journey it takes to get there. These pages in my memory planner share a few details of when I was packing and traveling. Can you see I had some help with my suitcase? It is simple, yet so fun to look back on these memories. If you are interested in using a journal or planner to display your photos, I recommend the storyline chapters by Heidi Swapp. This offers a unique way to do both scrapbooking and journaling all in one place. Check out my post here to see how I utilize my storyline inserts.

For this tropical layout I used flamingo and vacation scrapbook paper along with green leaf washi tape. After printing the polaroid’s, I backed them with some brightly colored cardstock to make them stand out. On the right side is where I did all my journaling for this week.

This layout shares all the glory of the great outdoors. I am definitely a cabin camper, but regardless of your camping style this idea can work for you too. During your next camping trip, try to take as many pictures of the scenery and landscape as possible. Here is a Tennessee scrapbook I created during a trip in 2021. The views were absolutely stunning and I am thankful I got to capture the nature up close. We went hiking to the top of a mountain and came across this marvelous waterfall.

Here, I cut out different mountain scenery and forest animals from various scrapbook paper to go along with the theme. The photographs are cut down to 2″ x 3″ and 3″ x 3″ in order to fit so many photographs in one area. When you have taken so many beautiful pictures you will want to try and fit as many as possible.

12. Bahamas Travel Scrapbook Layouts

Personalized travel scrapbook

Whenever someone asks me what my favorite part about scrapbooking is I always say I love picking out the fun scrapbook paper and accessories. The colors on this paper really compliment the colors in the photographs. I used different shades of blue to bring out the blue ocean color. Additionally, I used some pink decorations and ephemera pieces to go against the blue hues.

If your photo is primarily one color, try experimenting with a monochrome layout using the same color scheme. This technique aims to emphasize your photo by eliminating any competing bright colors, thereby attracting more attention to your travel scrapbook pages.

All the washi tape lovers can get excited because this one is for you! Here is a simple scrap idea that requires minimal paper cutting if any. Sometimes you just want a quick and easy scrapbook layout that will take less than five minutes.

First, grab your favorite washi tape roll. I had a hard time picking out just one washi tape so I decided to try out all of them. Next, cut them into different lengths and place them onto one side. It is just that easy and looks so good! I added some sequins and this cute pom-pom ribbon that completed the look.
