1. Fired Up – Creative Prom Proposal

Supplies:

Promposals are hands down one of my favorite things about prom! I love seeing the creative ways people come up with to ask their date to the dance. I could honestly scroll for hours on Instagram and YouTube to see the different themes people come up with for a proposal. If you are lucky enough to get asked, this is one of the prom scrapbook ideas you must try.

The layout I created above shares my personal experience of how I got asked to the prom. My boyfriend surprised me at the fire station with flowers and a hand drawn sign. I was totally surprised and thought we were just going there to meet up with our families. The sign he made reads “Are you fired up for prom with me?” This was so thoughtful and of course I said yes!

When creating this scrapbooking layout I wanted to keep the fireman theme by including lots of red and various fire elements. I loved the sign he made so much that I used the quote as the page title. I wrote “Fired up for prom” using the banner and red stickers. One item I could not find in my scrapbooking supplies was many fireman stickers or ephemera pieces. Due to my lack of supplies I decided to hand draw the flames. This is a great point to keep in mind that if you can not find supplies you want to just draw them in. I believe the doodles on this layout provide fun, playful elements that fit perfectly with the theme.

2. Senior Prom Scrapbook Layout – Enchanted Forest

Supplies:

There are so many things that go into making this night feel so perfect. One of those things being the theme and the decorations. With so many different prom themes there are endless ways you can decorate your scrapbook layouts. Whether the theme is bright and vibrant, or dark and romantic, decorating your page to match the aesthetic is a great idea.

My senior prom theme was Enchanted Forest; much like the Starry Night painting. It was dark with twinkling lights and mystical forest elements. While coming up with ideas for this page I immediately knew I wanted to use the same color pallete. From dark blue to purple and gold I gathered all the color hues that complimented nicely with the photographs. Also, I picked this starry night inspired prom scrapbook paper to add some fun details. You can find similar patterns to the one I used here, or get the same effect with this stencil.

This mixed media scrapbook art accurately portrays the Enchanted Forest display. If you look closely you can see I used multiple patterned paper, acrylic paint, glitter, and stickers. If you love working with mixed media try incorporating different techniques like the ones mentioned above into your layouts. All the different elements/ techniques combined come together to create such a gorgeous background. Think about your own prom theme and how you may be able to incorporate that into your scrapbook pages for prom. The easiest way is to add paper that matches the same color scheme.

3. Scrapbook Pages For Prom Pictures

Supplies:

You will likely have tons of pictures from your photoshoot which should give you lots of prom scrapbook ideas. Before the actual dance we stopped by a local garden with friends and family and took over 300 photographs to document this special event. I adore how the photos turned out and am so happy I have them as keepsakes. However, picking which exact photos to include in your album can be a daunting task with so many options.

Here is a page I create with two of my favorite photos. I especially love these pictures because of the flowers in the frame. Prom season is also springtime so be sure to take advantage of all the beautiful scenery and visit multiple destinations to find the perfect backdrop. With all the Spring vibes and florals I wanted to create a colorful, floral layout.

First, I choose this stunning, floral patterned prom scrapbook paper. I took scissors and fussy cut all the tiny flowers and leaves out. (This may take a while so I recommend playing your favorite TV show in the background.) You will get a bunch of individual pieces that you can move around and play with the placement of. After everything was cut out I decided I liked the look of the florals at the bottom of the page, just like in a natural garden. Then, I took some paper specific glue and layered the flowers one by one. This glue is my absolute favorite because it does not warp or create bumps in the paper like generic glue does. After laying down each of the pieces I added some finishing touches with colorful enamel dots.

When designing your own scrapbook pages think of ways you can include certain elements from your backdrops onto your page. For example, if you have a photoshoot in the city add a skyline to the layout. Also, do not be afraid to play with different colors and titles.

4. Homecoming Scrapbook Pages

I know this blog post is titled prom scrapbook ideas but I had to include this fun homecoming layout as well. This is a super simple layout you can try if you want to keep things effortless or do not have much time or supplies to spare. From start to finish this only took 20 minutes to create.

To begin I picked out some gold-foiled paper. I went with this gorgeous lavender floral pattern. If you do not want to use many ephemera or sticker pieces, I suggest using decorated prom scrapbook paper for the background. This will give the eyes something to focus on rather than blank space. I also cut a perfect square in 8.5 by 8.5 inches and adhered it in front. Additionally, I also included the pink and green wavy prints to add in some different colors. I love this technique because it gives different shapes for your eyes to look at, as well as adding in different pops of colors. To complete the look I added the main photograph, and smaller embellishments to the left that gave some added details. And finished it off by adding in light pink sparkly letters for the title.

5. Colorful Prom Scrapbook Paper

One of the most fun things you can try while crafting is playing with different patterns and colors. This is the best way to show off your personal style and creative talent. The layout I created above is bright, fresh, and gorgeous! I had multiple images I wanted to include so I ended up creating a fun background that fit them all.

To start off, I cut up strips of patterned pattern that I liked. If you plan to recreate this look feel free to cut the strips of paper thinner or wider per your personal preference. After those were cut out I took different border punches to make designs along the edges. My favorite border punch is this doily inspired one.

Next, I layered each strip of paper down horizontally from the top to the bottom. While it looked fabulous as is, I ended up going in with my sewing machine to stitch down the paper. This added some extra detail and fun stitch lines as you can see. I finished the scrapbook layout with some fun stickers and of course adding in my pictures. This is a great idea for multi-image layouts, or if you have a bunch of paper you want to use but aren’t sure how to incorporate it.
