I am forever grateful for my mom and everything she has done for me. All moms deserve the love and recognition on Mother’s day. The best way to tell your mom how thankful you are for everything she does is to write it in a card! Use these ideas to make your own handmade mothers day card.

How To Make Homemade Mothers Day Card Ideas Simple?

Before making a card for your mom, write a list of the things you appreciate most about her. Does she give good advice, or keep a beautiful home? These things you should absolutely include in your card.

Also, think of things that remind you of her. Whenever I see flowers or butterflies it makes me think of my mother. These things can be easily incorporated in the design of the card as well.

1. Washi Tape

Supplies:

Washi tape is one of my favorite ways to decorate cards!

This garden themed washi tape makes the perfect mother’s day card. Especially if your mom loves flowers and gardening. Plus, it is super easy to recreate!

To recreate this card yourself, find 5-7 different washi tapes. Pick patterns that go together and that your mom will love. Use various colors, widths, and designs. I am using a garden themed pack from American crafts.

Next, place one strip of washi tape along the edge of the card. Place a second strip of washi down lining up with the first. Continue these steps until the entire card is filled with washi. You will soon have a gorgeous background with fun colors and patterns.

You could stop there, but to elevate the card even further it’s a good idea to add a title. I wrote a handwritten title describing my mom. Feel free to make your own title to make it about your own mother.

2. Happy Mother’s Day Cards For Farmers

Supplies:

This card is udder-ly adorable and perfect for cow-lovers or farmers.

I love using stamps for cards and this one was too cute to pass up. It is an adorable way to tell your mom how amazing she is.

While using cow printed paper for the background, I stamped the cow on watercolor paper. Then, I painted the design with watercolor pencils from Tim Holtz. If you have never stamped before, this is a great project to start with. Plus, watercolor paint is very forgiving.

3. Strawberry Mothers Day Card Ideas

Supplies:

This is one of the sweetest homemade mothers day card ideas you can make yourself. I just love the strawberry die cuts and detailing around the edges.

You will need a die cut machine to cut out the strawberries. But once you cut them out, it is so much fun to assemble them all!

The strawberries are a symbol of how sweet mothers can be. You could also pair the card with strawberry scented candles, body products, or desserts, if you want to gift your mom something special. (Additional source: “How to honor all mothers on Mother’s day“)

Calling all coffee lovers – this is a fun mothers day card idea just for you!

Another card using stamps and watercolor paints. For this card, I stamped the image on a white background and added a fun patterned border. Like I mentioned earlier, water-coloring is super easy and great for beginners.

If your mom is anything like mine, she will appreciate having a handmade card for Mother’s day. Especially one that you paint yourself.

Supplies:

Every Mother’s day we have a family tradition of getting together for lunch and a picnic. This card reminds me exactly of our family get togethers. Not to mention the animals are way too cute.

Whether you prefer working with paint, colored pencils, or markers, you can totally recreate this with your artistic preference.

You don’t always have to use a bunch of words to tell your mom just how much she means to you. Sometimes a picture, such as this card, can depict exactly how you are feeling. In this way, my mom is super fun and the life of the party!
