Festive Handmade Christmas Cards Using Dies

1. Hot Cocoa Mug

Supplies:

Homemade hot chocolate is a staple for Winter and this card has all the warmth and coziness to it. You can make this even more Christmas-themed by using red or green paper. Once you have all the pieces cut out it is very easy to assemble. Just make sure to use specific paper glue to not cause warping or wrinkles.

To complete my card, I placed the finished mug on a plaid patterned cardstock. You can leave the mug standalone or pair it with cookies and candy ephemera. There are even more ways to personalize handmade Christmas cards with dies by adding fun titles and glitter.

2. Do You Wanna Build A Snowman?

Supplies:

This cute, interactive die set is perfect for capturing the spirit of Christmas! Kids will love making and receiving a fun card such as this one. The interactive element comes into play with the snowman’s moving legs. Make him look like he is dancing or skating by moving them back and forth. You can even elevate this card further by creating a background scene on ice. Plus, he comes with the cutest accessories such as earmuffs, presents, and a miniature Christmas tree.

3. Ideas For Handmade Christmas Cards Using Dies Circle

Supplies:

I guarantee you have circle dies lying around your craft room. This handmade card is so easy to make and takes only a few minutes. To start, you will need various sized circle die cuts. Once the circles are cut out, fold each one in half and adhere it to the top of the larger one. You should start with the biggest circle on the bottom and then make your way up to the smallest. This creates an abstract Christmas tree. Use either green or colorful patterned paper to make it stand out even more. To finish the card I added a tree stumps along with stars.

4. Shaker Christmas Card Ornament

Supplies:

Shaker dies are so much fun and completely customizable. I love this ornament die cut set because it can either be used as an ornament or as a snow globe. The possibilities are endless! With shaker dies, you can put any glitter, sequins, or shaker mixes inside. They are so much fun to make and whoever receives the card will love it.

To create my ornament shaker card I used this candy cane mix of pink and red bits. I love the tiny Santa heads and peppermint designs. Foam adhesive was then used in order to have the pieces move around when shaken. This is a great card idea for beginners that looks more advanced than it really was.

5. Handmade Christmas Cards Using Dies With Critters

Supplies:

A playful and cute Christmas card of Santa and his helpers. If you love stamping or coloring then you must try one of these handmade Christmas cards using dies. Stamps and die sets make decorating a card so easy. Plus, when there are cute critters involved it is too adorable. The great thing about stamps is that you do not need to be great at drawing. Instead, you just color in the design and make it completely personalized. For this card, I opted for watercolor paints as they are most easy to paint with. I love the bright, yet effortless look of the characters.

Once the designs were painted in I stamped some cute sentiments and placed them on the card. Similarly to the other cards, you can decorate the background any way you would like. You may design different scenes such as the North Pole, or keep it simple and use patterned paper in the background.

6. Angels

This Christmas die set is simply adorable. Angels are especially symbolic during Christmas time and I adore the elegance of this card. The best part is, the die includes a card cutout so you do not need a blank card. You can simply use thick paper to put together this card from start to finish. Of course with angels gold and glitter are perfect for decorating. I included glitter wings along with pink poinsettias to decorate.

7. Gingerbread House Die Christmas Card

Supplies:

Similar to the shaker ornament card above, this gingerbread house is incredibly cute! Using the same shaker mix as before, I created this gingerbread house with peppermint bits inside. All gingerbread houses need a bit of decorating so I used pops of color puffy paint to add on red and green dots. You can go all out and add a door, windows, and trees. Or consider adding in gingerbread men or animals to make it a real home.

8. How To Make A Christmas Card Out Of Fabric

Using fabric material to create handmade Christmas cards out of dies is totally possible. Most die cutting machines today allow you to cut out most materials, including fabric. All you need to do is pick out a thick fabric material such as felt and place it under the die. It may be necessary to run it through the machine 2-3 times in order for it to cut out completely. Once it is fully cut, assemble it like you would with any paper. The great thing about using fabric on cards is the longevity. Since fabric does not tear as easily as paper it is likely to last longer. Furthermore, you can use beautiful Christmas patterns.
