Modern Scrapbooking Examples To Make You Inspired
Find scrapbooking examples that are modern and creative.
These modern scrapbooking examples are the perfect way to store your photos. Over the years, scrapbooking has evolved to include more handmade, and personalized details, instead of just curated albums. Now, you can easily create an entire album of layouts with only a few basic supplies. Let me show you how!
Keep in mind that a scrapbook is entirely personal to you. Use photos and elements that help to tell your story and remember every little detail. Include keepsakes such as receipts, post cards, tickets, newspaper clippings, and invites onto your pages.
What Are Some Trending Scrapbooking Examples?
1. Sample Scrapbook Page For Fun
Supplies:
This page layout is fun, bright, and colorful. One of the newest trends in scrapbooking is to cut the subject out of your photographs. This gets rid of any background to focus on the main details.
Using just paper and stickers, you can totally transform a blank page. Find patterned paper that correlates to your pictures. Then, scatter your photos throughout, and place embellishments in blank spaces.
2. Documenting Dinner
Supplies:
Keeping a food scrapbook is a great way to remember those delicious meals, and wonderful time spent with friends and family. You can check off the restaurants you’ve been to and your favorite foods from each one.
Find food themed scrapbook paper that matches the cuisine. On this scrapbooking example, I added bread die cuts to match the Italian aesthetics of the restaurant.
3. Making Your Own Embellishments
supplies:
If you are looking for modern scrapbooking examples that are easy for beginners, this is a great layout to try.
You can create your own unique shapes to decorate with by hand. For example, I made the donuts out of circles and painted on the icing.
It is also fun to mix and match paper patterns to create your own backgrounds. Find papers with correlating color schemes and arrange them on the page. Then, add a title and your photos and now you have a custom layout.
4. Travel Scrapbook Example
Supplies:
A travel scrapbook is a great way to show off all of your adventures from around the world.
Here is an example of a travel page I made to document my first plane ride. The view from the plane window is always so mesmerizing.
For your own travel pages, be sure to include plane tickets, maps, receipts, and photos. Capture your favorite moments and locations from your trip to look back on years later. You can find tons more travel scrapbook ideas for your next vacation.
5. Easy Page Layouts To Try With Friends
Supplies:
A friendship themed scrapbooking page to make for your besties.
This is a great example on how to use smaller paper scraps that you have leftover from prior projects. I love how simple, yet intricate this page is!
To make this yourself, cut out various sized strips of paper. Use all kinds of different patterns and colors to make it interesting. Adhere each paper strip along the edge of the layout.
Instead of paper, you could also use strips of washi tape. Since washi tape is so versatile, it makes a great material to use on layouts (Source: “Amazing Things You Can Do With Washi Tape.“)
Next, you can experiment with different shapes for your pictures. I cut mine into circles. I added fun ephemera pieces around the layout to bring in more details.
6. Easy Scrapbooking Examples For Adults
Supplies:
One of my favorite scrapbooking examples for celebrating weddings and engagements!
Whenever there is a holiday or fun celebration, I make sure to scrapbook it to always remember that day. This one in particular is for my sister’s engagement party.
I stuck with a red, pink, and white color scheme. I also found tons of heart shaped stickers to decorate with. You can find tons of stickers online or at your local dollar store for cheap.
7. Adding Colors
Supplies:
If you are new to scrapbooking, you may not be aware of what die cutting is. A die cut is a shape you cut out with a cutting machine, like the Sizzix (Source: “Die Cutting Guide“). It’s a great way to decorate your scrapbook pages with fun images.
Unlike stickers and paper embellishments, die cuts can be customized to whichever colors you choose. Here, I used a paint palette die cut as the main element on this layout.
I love playing around with different die cut shapes since they come in so many fun designs. If you can’t find what you’re looking for in your craft supplies, you can probably make it yourself using die cuts.
8. Colorful Scrapbook Design
Here is another colorful layout for your travel scrapbook.
Many modern scrapbooking examples will have plain white backgrounds. But I just love the look of a colorful pattern coming through behind a photograph. It gives it a border-like appearance without the extra cutting and gluing!
A cute thing to add to your photos are decorative paper clips. They give such a fun added detail, and there’s so many designs. Here, I have a watermelon paper clip since this page is fruit-themed.
9. Trending Layouts
Supplies:
One trending scrapbook technique that I learned is how to align papers on a page. Instead of layering them on top of one another, place them side by side, leaving a little bit of space in-between.
This technique gives a much clean and organized look to your layouts. Plus, you can use scrap pieces of paper to fit into the areas.
Here is a super simple layout spacing the papers this way. I added my photos on top, cut into fun shapes and sizes to add dimension.
