10 Italy Scrapbook Travel Pages To Impress Your Friends

Learn how to create gorgeous Italy scrapbook travel pages for documenting your international vacation.

Italy scrapbook travel pages

These Italy scrapbook travel pages were made as a Christmas gift for my sister. While I have never been to Italy myself, the photographs alone make me want to hop on a plane tomorrow to go visit. I am thankful I was able to use my scrapbooking talents and create a customized photo album that my sister can cherish for years to come.

Italy is a fascinating country with rich history and exciting cuisines. It was important for the scrapbooking layouts to capture the country’s culture as best as possible. From the vibrant coastline, remarkable waterways, and the stone architecture, there were so many details that were worth depicting. Afterall, these details play a huge part in telling the whole travel story.

Beautiful Italy Scrapbook Travel Pages

Positano, Italy Travel Book Pages

Supplies:

If you have a specific photograph that is your favorite this is a must-try technique. First, print your image to the same size as your album. This specific album was 8.5 by 11 inches so I printed the photo to measure approximately 8.5 inches in width (It ended up being a little less than 8.5 inches due to the printing options). Next, cut out a word for the title. This picture was taken in front of the beautiful view of buildings in Positano, Italy. I cut out the word ‘Positano’ with a Cricut cutting machine. You will need a cutting machine such as a Circut or Silhouette Cameo.

Once you have the photo and title cut out to the exact same length, glue the title to the bottom edge of the photograph. Some of the letters should be hanging off the bottom edge. Then, use an Exacto knife to trim off any pieces of the picture that go beyond the bottom of the word. This is so simple once you get the hang out if it and is such a unique scrapbooking technique.

A quick tip is to choose a vibrant color for the title. This will help the title to stand out and be readable against the background. I choose to work with a brightly colored purple glitter paper that can easily be read by the viewer.

Beautiful Amalfi Coast Layouts

Supplies:

The area of Positano is so remarkable and each building is vastly different. The way the homes jet out off the side of a cliff is so noteworthy that I wanted to include them within the pages of this Italy scrapbook. I love this photo as it shows all the colors and details from the many buildings situated alongside the hill. I used this photograph in particular for inspiration on creating this one of a kind layout.

To start, I used a collection of mini house die-cuts. These die-cuts in particular were from a Christmas collection but they also worked perfectly in a non-holiday project as well. The etched detailing on the roofs make them even more eye-catching. Additionally, I choose paper colors that matched the actual houses. Positano has many homes in white, beige, and yellow so that was the main color pallet used in this layout. In the photo you can also see a lot of greenery from the trees. Both the trees and the mountains were added into the background to make it as realistic as possible.

Before creating any scrapbook layout, think of ways to include different landmarks or landscapes into the background of the page. By including these details it creates a better image of what the country looked like during this time. This is one of my favorite ways to decorate an album and creates so much interest.

Stamp Destinations And Stickers

Supplies:

If you plan on creating any sort of travel album to commemorate your trips, there are a few items that are good to include. This includes any sort of ephemera that can describe your destination or journey. Stamps or postcards are two great options for ephemera pieces to add. Bonus points if they come directly from the place you visited. Souvenirs that can be added into your scrapbook are excellent reminders of your special time there.

On this page I added paper stamps that have all different travel destinations on them. Since I made this album for my sister I was not able to collect any sort of ephemera from Italy myself. Instead, I relied on premade scrapbook embellishments to decorate. I simply cut out each of the paper stamps then used patterned scissors to make the edges rigid – just like an actual stamp! This scrapbook layout is simple yet so much fun.

Instax Polaroid Album

I cannot share enough how much I love my Instax mini polaroid printer and camera. Polaroids make for such a unique way of printing and displaying your photographs. Plus, with the printer you can print the photos directly from your phone to become a mini polaroid. This way you can get the best shot possible.

I found this amazing patterned paper with all sorts of locations arranged. I thought this was the perfect layout to include mini polaroids onto. The scrapbook paper itself is black and white. By printing the photos out in color they stand out against the background. If you love to use busy or brightly patterned paper simply adding a couple of polaroid images can be all you need to do in order to create eye-catching layouts. This layout took less than 5 minutes to complete and is one of my favorites.

The Italian Coastline Destinations

Supplies:

All along the Italian coastline are beautiful beaches lined with fun restaurants and shops. The Arienzo beach club will surely catch your eye with their brightly striped umbrellas sitting out. There is nothing quite like sitting down at the beach sipping a fresh cappuccino.

At this particular destination, the striped umbrellas are the first thing to catch the eyes of tourists. Noticeable from miles away, the bright orange stripes are iconic. I found the perfect red and pink striped paper in my scrapbooking stash that is almost identical to the beach umbrellas. I included that as the background on this page which does a great job with matching the two pictures. Lastly, I included a few different stickers at the bottom of the page to create a little beach scene.

Travel Lodging

Perhaps much of the fun of traveling comes from staying in different areas and hotels. I always enjoy seeing the unique architecture of places to learn more about the history and culture. Italy especially has a ton of old, historic buildings that each tell their own story. Plus, the mountain side views offer an unforgettable experience.

Another technique I used on these Italy scrapbook travel pages were watercolor paint. Watercolor painting is by far my favorite painting method currently. You do not have to be a good artists to paint something beautiful. In fact, random scribbles with watercolor are guaranteed to create a stunning backdrop.

This photo was taken of a local hotel sitting in front of the mountains. Lots of blues, grays, and whites are in the photograph so I used the same color scheme of watercolor paints. To create this pretty background I simply brushed water along the paper and then took one color at a time to add in paint. Do not worry about the colors mixing together because they will create a beautiful combination of shades if they do. Next, I added a bold title that reads ‘Travel’ along with a mini airplane.

Venice, Italy Travel Scrapbook

Supplies:

When in Italy it is a must to go visit Venice. The city of Venice is best known for their architectural bridges, gondola rides, and of course pizza! When in Venice be sure to take a gondola ride over to a pizza shop. But in all seriousness getting to ride on one of these boats touring the city streets is one of the most unforgettable experiences.

This page layout was so much fun to create as I got to play with various patterns and colors. The streets and skyline of Venice, Italy have lots of different shades of yellow and blue. Additionally, the doily brings in a delicate contrast against the paper and photograph. Doilies are a fun piece to add to any of your layouts. Also, cutting the edges of paper with special paper punches can bring a lot of interest and dimension to a page. Here, I used a combination of two different edges punches on the horizontal pieces.

Here is another page dedicated to the gondola rides in Venice, Italy. A simple and easy way to decorate a scrapbook page of your own is to take two patterned papers you like and cut one smaller than the other. Then, adhere the smaller one on top of the larger one and you have a colorful border for the background. While working with busy patterns you do not need to add many more embellishments. The background paper brings in all the color and designs you need.

Hiking The Dolomite Mountains

Dolomites italy scrapbooking items

Supplies:

One of the last destinations my sister visited while in Italy were the Dolomite Alps. The Dolomites are mountain ranges located in the northern party of Italy. Most of the peaks are climbable and can be hiked if you are up for an adventure. Afterall, the views make for breathtaking images you can include in your travel scrapbook.

As mentioned earlier in this post, I love to use die-cutting patterns to make my own embellishments. Here, I used a pack of various leaf patterns that correlate perfectly with all the nature found within these mountains. Each one of the die-cut leaves were cut out of watercolor paper. First, I painted the paper will vibrant colors including blue, green, and orange. The shades from the paint gives the leaves much more texture than using traditional colored paper. In addition to the paint, the die-cutting templates include so much details within the lines of the leaves. This created such a magnificent, yet minimal background.

Within the valleys of the mountains are pastures full of goats. Coming across wildlife while hiking the Dolomite Alps would be so magical I can only imagine. With the water so blue and the free roaming animals, these pictures appear as though they were taking right out of a picture book or a painting.

This page layout utilizes many different ephemera pieces and stickers. First off, the journaling card brings in more fun nature elements. Adding in journaling cards are an excellent idea if you need to fill up space on the page. Along with the journaling card are leaf stickers and tags. These pieces bring in such cute designs that will instantly catch your eye.
