12x12 scrapbook paper storage

These are by far the best 12×12 scrapbook paper storage organizers that I have found on the market. Particularly, there are two that I recommend depending on your needs and budget. Perfect for keeping heavy paper pack collections or just single sheets of paper stored away and tidy.

When choosing a paper storage option the two things it must have are strong durability and a clean, sleek look to it. Over the years I have tried countless shelving units and trays for storing larger-sized paper. These are my tried and true ways that work best for organizing scrapbook paper.

This year, Scrapbook.com released their very own paper storage trays. I will be the first (and certainly not the last) to say that these are legit. Not only are the trays nice looking and will fit into any craft room décor aesthetic, but they will fit into any Ikea kallax shelving unit or most bookcases. I keep mine inside of my bookshelf I have had for many years. It is a perfect fit and does not slide around on the shelf.

If you can tell from the photograph above, I keep all of my paper packs stored away on the trays. The trays can hold multiple packs of paper with no issues. If you are a paper crafter such as myself then you know just how heavy paper can be. This specific organizer does not buckle underneath the weight of multiple pounds of paper. The material is specially made out of sturdy polystyrene plastic. Which makes it difficult to bend and hard to break.

Also, the trays are stackable and fit on top of one another. Hypothetically, you could stack them up as high as you want to. However, I keep mine stacked to six trays because that is the height of my bookshelf. I am able to fit three or four packs of paper on each tray while still leaving enough room to flip through and grab the different papers. Another thing I love about this organizer is that this is a small cutout on each tray that makes it super easy to grab any paper packs I need. This may seem like a small detail, however when using organizers without this design the paper can easily get stuck or is hard to pull out.

Ikea 12×12 Paper Storage

As I mentioned earlier, the Scrapbook.com paper trays will fit into the Ikea Kallax unit. Because the units are cubbies the organizer will fit precisely into one of the designated spaces. Another neat detail of these trays are that they can be stacked either horizontally or vertically. Whether you prefer to grab your papers from the bottom up or from side to side these will work with your preferences.

If you do prefer to use a vertical paper organizer, the Ikea Kallax unit will be beneficial for this purpose since there are walls on both sides. This will help ensure the trays will stick together vertically and not slip away. Plus, the shelving units from Ikea are affordable and will likely work with your budget. For around $100 you can purchase the shelving units as well as the paper trays.

If you are looking for a more affordable 12×12 paper storage option then this one from Hobby Lobby may work best for you. This blue metal paper tray is what I use to store single sheets of scrapbooking paper and completed projects. While it is less sturdy than the stackable trays mentioned above, this is a good option if you are just wanting to store light-weight papers.

This is a great storage organizers for beginners who may not have a huge collection to store. I find this paper tray works best with single sheets of paper instead of heavy paper packs because the trays can be bent more easily. Another nice benefit is how each tray clips onto the sides. Therefore, it is easy to adjust the trays and allow more space between each level. This will work great will you have thicker projects you want to store. You can easily remove a level for more room.

Hobby Lobby is one of my favorite stores to buy scrapbooking supplies. Every two weeks they have 40% off sales on all paper products. If you are interested in this paper storage be sure to check their website on what sales are happening that week. Make sure you buy when the items are on sale to make sure you are getting the best deal possible.

I keep this paper organizer on top of my desk. The trays work best when sitting on a flat surface. Plus, the pretty blue color offers a cute pop of color with my craft room décor. The trays also measure to a height of approximately 12 inches so it will most likely fit into most bookcases.

Lastly, I want to share how I store and organize my used paper collections. Once I open a scrapbooking collection I will often end up with loose leaf paper and embellishments everywhere. Especially when you have cut up paper left over it can be difficult to store away. My secret to keeping collections together once they have been opened are these clear 13×13 plastic envelopes.

Plastic envelopes are great at keeping collections together and are easy to store away to use again later. Since using these, I have been able to save many more paper scraps to use later one. Having the clear envelopes makes it easy to see exactly what paper patterns you have left. Also, you may store ephemera pieces and stickers that come in the collection in order to keep it all together.

These envelopes store the same way as any other paper packs. You can fit them into both of the paper storage trays mentioned above. To securely close them, tie the string around the two buttons. If you have tiny pieces in a collection, there is no need to worry about them falling out. Another bonus is how these envelopes lay flat and are not bulky whatsoever. Therefore, you can store many on top of one another without taking up much room.

With so much scrapbooking paper storage options in the market today it can be hard to find the right solutions that works best in your crafting space. Hopefully, this blog post helps you find a great paper organizer that meets all your needs. Taking into consideration organization, durability, convenience, and aesthetic, these supplies are the best in my opinion. Afterall, keeping collections properly organized will help you know which supplies you actually have and what you may need to buy. Using these organization methods in particular has helped tremendously with preventing me from overbuying.
